A Note from the Director

"When I say that my children are the most precious beings in the world to me, all you parents reading this will understand where I am coming from".

"As a busy working career couple my husband and I wanted the best one-on-one care for our children.  The only way to go for our family was an experienced and loving Nanny….. someone who could be nurturing and caring".

So began our 8-year long intensive journey of hiring private nannies.  Needless to say, we have learnt many lessons. During this time, we hired nannies privately, through agencies and by word - of - mouth.  We found that the level of service provision varied greatly and the quality of candidates was quite poor at the time; many agencies simply were unable to meet some of our expectations.

As a mum, I expected that a candidate would 1) be fully screened for police and health clearance; 2) have relevant experience as a nanny or in childcare; 3) have their childcare experience verbally verified by their referees/ex-employers; 4) have their health status cleared for childcare work; 5) have a federal police clearance which would ensure me that the candidate had a 'clean' criminal record  and finally 6) meet our particular needs.   Instead and all too often, we would be sent nannies who either had insufficient experience, were far too young, or had not been adequately screened for any of the above.

Milestonz has very strict rules for candidates - "provide all documents or evidence of qualifications within one month of interview date, or be de-registered". We require a Police Clearance (or the Working With Children Clearance (blue card)), Health Clearance, a First Aid Certificate and two or more verifiable references.  We ensure a good database of experienced nannies by selecting only nannies who have had at least 2 years work experience as a nanny or as a childcare worker.  We regularly de-register candidates who fall short of our expectations.

We are currently recruiting franchisees in Melbourne , Sydney West, Sydney East and wherever there is a need for an excellent service provider such as Milestonz Nannies.   Franchising is the only way we can ensure that our operators 'own' the service provision.

Finally, the childcare issue is a very prominent, necessary and a personal one. All sectors of our society should be working hard to improve conditions for working parents and to improve whatever childcare options we do have.

Whatever you choose to do, remember to "always follow your own inner gut feeling when choosing a Nanny either privately or through an agency".
