Q1.

Can I register with Milestonz Nannies?

Childcare Workers with at least 2 years full-time equivalent employment as a professional nanny or as a child carer (in a Childcare Centre or Crèche), are eligible to attend an interview for registration.

If you are NNEB qualified or a Rangi Ruru Nanny College Nanny, please email your local Milestonz Nanny agency for assessment after 12 months of experience.

Q2.

What other checks or qualifications do I need?

You will need to obtain and keep a FIRST AID certificate current at all times; you will also need a health clearance from your regular GP and a police clearance or Working With Children Check from either the Children's Commission in Qld or DoCS in NSW.

We also require you to keep in touch with us at least once a fortnight.

Q3.

Am I employed by Milestonz Nannies?

No, once you are full screened, you are registered to be referred to families who will employ you and pay you directly.

Q4.

Do I have to pay fees to the agency?

No, there is no joining or administration fee. All your nanny or carer wages and babysitting fees will be paid to you directly by the family who employs you. Even agency fees for babysitting are paid directly by the family to our agency.

Q5.

Can I get my own ABN?

There is no reason why you cannot get your own ABN, however you may wish to consult your accountant on such matters, for professional advice.

Q6.

What about Nanny Insurance?

You may want to consider taking out Public and Products Liability as an in-home carer. NannySure offers cover for nannies.

Q7.

What is the CCB?

The CCB (Childcare Benefit) is a payment to help families who use approved and registered child care. All eligible families can receive some Child Care Benefit.

All Registered carers such as nannies who are registered with the Family Assistance Office (FAO) are able to provide families with Childcare Benefit receipts. Families can then claim a rebate from the FAO.

To become a Registered Carer, phone the FAO on 136 150 or email them by clicking here.

Q8.

What about fuel allowance?

If you use your own car during work hours (to pick the children that you take care of up from school, for instance), then you can claim a tax deduction for this. The ATO has a webpage dedicated to this subject.

If you wish to be re-imbursed by your employer instead, you may want to use the ATO deductions as a rough guideline and negotiate an amount per kilometre travelled.
